Somi Javaid MD, FACOG is a board-certified OB/GYN, leading women’s sexual health thought leader, and menopause advocate. She is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of HerMD.com, a team on a mission to make women’s healthcare exceptional by educating, advocating for, and empowering patients to take control of their health concerns.
Dr. Javaid has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, Well+Good, InStyle, Parents, Refinery29, Mashable, Adweek, and Popsugar. In August 2020, Dr. Javaid spoke about Gender Bias and the Female Sexual Health Revolution on the TEDx mainstage. In January 2021, she was featured in Women on Topp for her work as a trailblazer and pioneer in women’s sexual health.
Her company, HerMD revolutionizes the future of women’s healthcare through an integrated, evidence-based model. They hyper focus on the underserved specialties of menopause and sexual health. HerMD centers provide a safe, welcoming space for patients to discuss all their healthcare needs – shame and stigma-free. They offer in-person and virtual care for sexual health, menopause, gynecology, medical aesthetics, and more. Their expert team of board-certified OBGYNs, healthcare providers, aestheticians, and a vast network of referral partners help their nationwide clients make informed decisions about health concerns.
After finishing her Bachelor of Arts in Neurobiology at Northwestern University, she pursued further education at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency there and spent her last year as Chief Resident.
Her professional memberships include American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology–Board-Certified, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ohio State Medical Association, Warren County Medical Association, North American Menopause Society and International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH).
Currently, Dr. Javaid enjoys practicing medicine, traveling, hiking, cooking, and yoga.
